The legend of Narcissus claims that he was the son of the river Kifissos and the nymph Lerioti. From a young age, he aroused admiration. He was ignoring everyone, so Nemesis cursed him to fall in love only with himself. One day Echos saw him wandering in the woods and started following him, but when she approached him, he pushed her and walked away. Narcissus continued crossing the forest until he found a lake, he bent over it and as soon as he saw his image in the water, he fell and drowned. Echos mourned so deeply that Zeus felt sorry for her and transformed Narcissus into a flower.
